Caramel Cookies

1 14 oz bag caramels (at least 50)
2/3 cup canned milk
3/4 cup butter, melted
8 oz bag of chocolate chips
1 package white cake mix
1/2 cup nuts (optional)

Directions:
Preheat oven to 350. Grease and flour a 9x13 inch
cake pan.
Mix together caramels and 1/3 cup canned milk in
top of a double broiler and heat until caramels are
completely melted.
Mix cake mix, butter, and other 1/3 cup of canned
milk. Put half of the mixture in bottom of pan and
bake for 6 minutes. Remove and let stand for a
few minutes.
Pour layer of caramels over baked layer. Sprinkle
with chocolate chips and nuts. Put rest of cake
mixture on top and spread evenly.
Bake 20 minutes. Refrigerate 30 minutes before
cutting.
