Royal Icing

I took a class on cookie decorating and this is the
instructors recipe. If you pipe around the cookie
with the thick icing to kind of make a dam, then thin
some and put it in the middle it looks very
professional. Maryjane Melis

Royal Icing (that tastes good)

3 Lbs powdered sugar
3-4 heaping tsp. powdered egg whites
water to thin
3/4 tsp clear vanilla
3/4 tsp butter flavoring
3/4 tsp almond flavoring

Place 2 lbs of powdered sugar in the mixing bowl
of your mixer (hopefully a kitchen-aide). Add the
powdered egg whites. Thoroughly mix the two
together. Add approx. 1/2 c. water or enough that
the frosting is fairly thin. Add the flavorings in the
amounts shown or adjust them to your own
taste. Add the last pound of powdered sugar and
enough water to make the mixture ''frosting
consistency''.
